Does anyone have any hints on how to increase the size of photo's attached to threads? The are pretty small and I can't work out how to make them any bigger. The resolution that you upload does not appear to make any difference to the final size of the photo in the thread.

I presume you are referring to the "Add image to post" button for photos from your own hard drive, rather than web photos uploaded using the "Insert Image" button in the menu bar?

Hi Stuart - Very helpful Proboards Support response and problem should now be fixed - see my previous test post uploading an image. Basically I had the settings on the default, which is thumbnail...Doh!

Hi,
Yes I was using the upload from my own hard drive. I can see your previous post which clearly fixes that issue but I seem to have another one now. When I try the upload it reaches about 30% (well anywhere between 20-40 %) and then stops. There is no message to say why. I am wondering if it is the size of the file as I took mine on fine so they are large files. Is there a max file size? Or can you think of any other reason why the upload would only get so far?
Thanks,
Stuart.

Stuart, as you can see from my above test it doesn't seem to be a problem with the size either in mb or pixels, although there is an implication long-term about size as this free forum hosting has limitations on storage. Can you let me know some details to take to Pro Boards Support: file size as above, also which dropdown selected? I have used 640 X 480 (for message boards). Thanks.

Hi,
I've done a little more testing. It seems to be an intermittent bug when uploading an image from a local drive. If you look at my post America Lane Autumn 2015, those two photo's have been successfully uploaded but it seems 50/50 if it works or not. I'm using 640x480 and the files were 2.3mb and 2.7mb. Sometimes they work but sometimes they get stuck around the 25-35% mark. I'm uploading from a photo on iMac.
I also found that you get the message file size exceeded if i try a third photo in the same post. So maybe single upload size is around the 5mb mark. I'm going to try and add more photo's to the same post now....

Hi Murray, i tried to reply to your shoutbox but get the message shoutbox disabled. I tried adding a further image by replying to my post America Lane Autumn 2015 but get the message file size exceeded again. I'll keep trying things out later with some different posts. but just got to pop down the plot to get some veg for tea now....

Sorry Stuart, when I enabled the shoutbox it didn't show you as online, so I turned it off again. I'll probably enable it fully when we get more people posting regularly. Researching this the file size should not be an issue with Proboards as the off line host is a separate outfit, Post Image.org. I'll see what I can find out on various forums about this facility, whether others are having similair bugg-y problems to you. The pics look great btw, and the plot should be lovely now - a little cool this morning, but the digging was fun!

As that test obviously worked it looks as if this is a techie problem rather than just a matter of changing settings - as the original thumbnail issue was. I'm happy to take this up with PostImage.org to try to find out because if it happens to you it might happen to other users and I'd like to resolve these issues early.
Trying to anticipate the questions they might ask, I note that you're uploading from iMac. It may not be relevant, but what browser are you using, and are there any settings on like Private Viewing (I know from another forum I'm involved with that can be an issue with some graphics software)? Is it possible for you to check (using the Insert Image icon in the Create Post menu bar) whether you get the same problems with any other images on other hosting systems like Flickr or PhotoBucket? PM me if you would prefer to keep any details confidential.

Hi Murray, nice photo's by the way. Somebody has a good looking plot there :-)
I'm using Safari so the standard apple browser. I have uploaded a large number of photo's to drop event which is a photo share hosting service if that is a good example.
A little more detail on the issue. I tried creating a new post but it appears I cannot upload any more photo's as I get the file size exceed warning message. I restarted the mac to make sure the browser was refreshed and the same message occurs. The max file size message seems to have been triggered when I tried to upload a bunch of 5 photo's in one go (nearly 50mb). But now even a single photo is not possible.
So would be good to hear what the support guys say. I'm sure it is just user incompetence on my part. If there are certain settings they suggest for safari I can give them a go.
I haven't done a full power off of the mac yet. Cant see why that would be different to a restart but I'll keep testing things out and see what we can deduce.
Thanks,
Stuart.

Thanks again. I will get a message out to PostImage and see how quickly they respond, and we'll take it from there. I haven't seen any reference to this problem either on the ProBoards support or in Google, so hope they can diagnose a settings issue.

Hi Murray, I shutdown the mac and then after restarting I was able to upload two photo's to one of my posts. But is also occurs to me I am trying for the first time today. Then I tried to create a new post. Uploaded one photo and then when I tired the second I got the file size exceeded message again. So I seem to be limited to about 3 photo's max and then either need a reboot or perhaps it is because it is a new day that I was able to upload again? I wonder if you are able to do more because you are admin whereas I am just a regular member? Maybe members have a daily limit on the size of uploads?
