We have had an offer through our Facebook page from someone who breeds rabbits and has 2-3 binliners per week of muck that they would like to see recycled and they are prepared to deliver. Straw and hay bedding compost very well, but wood shavings take much longer, and the person making the offer has said that she will switch to bedding made of hay clippings.
If anyone would like to give this a trial after Christmas - and its probably a good time of year if you have open compost bins to mix stuff in and let it settle down over the next few months - please let me know and I will arrange delivery, either to America Lane or Oathall. I will probably trial a few bags myself, but a regular delivery would need several people who are committed - otherwise it isn't fair to the donor to start and stop the arrangement.

Hi Murray, I'll take some. I'm revamping my composting system. Now it seems I have an unlimited supply of free horse manure. So I am taking a lot of care over the ingredients now. Kitchen scraps, 'good' allotment waste, powered egg shells, tea leaves (out of the bag), sheep fleece (I have acquired plenty of that), comfrey leaves, the horse manure, plain paper / cardboard. So no coloured papers, no weeds etc. I think adding some rabbit apples to that mix will contribute nicely.

We have plenty of bats around us at home in the summer but I have yet to find the guano dump, which the great Attenborough has discussed in the past, crawling through various caves.

More news on the rabbit bedding offer. The lady has messaged us on Facebook -she has been unwell since Christmas and that is why the delay - that she has 4 binliners full ready to deliver and I have asked her to deliver when she can to America Lane and text me when she leaves the bags outside the gate and I will come down and bring them in. If anyone sees any bags propped against the gate or fence would they be kind enough just to lug them inside and leave them by the notice board and I will deal with it from there. Stuart: will drop some off at your plot.
We have also had a post on our Facebook page from a lady in Ditchling who says "Free rotted horse manure collection ditchilng(bottom of the beacon) as much as you want to take message me to arrange a time my Nan said it's the best she has had in ages! X"

If anyone is on the the America Lane site this afternoon (Sunday 2nd April) there are some bags of rabbit bedding compost left by the gate by our benefactor. Grateful if someone would bring them inside and all may take advantage of what has been given.

Chris I think there will be plenty there next time you go down. There are 7 big bin liners full up on the communal plot.
