prob should have posted my question more obviously than under Murrays "courgette" thread 🙄 So here goes again as I have a whole bag full to get in the freezer!!
Quick question about freezing the purple beans. Do you blanch them as with other veg, before freezing
Therefore presume they turn green before they get frozen?! So careful labelling required to differentiate from other beans!! 😬

JUST A PERSONAL VIEW BUT WE DONT BLANCH ANY BEAN OR PEA ANYMORE. NOT SINCE T.V CHEF FLOYD (HIM WHO ADDED WINE TO NEARLY EVERYTHING) ADVOCATED THAT THERE WAS NO NEED. THAT WAS A GOOD THIRTY YEARS AGO AND WE HAVE ALWAYS FOUND THAT THE TASTE IS BETTER FOR NOT BLANCHING. NOT BLANCHING RYDERS BLUE THE BEAN STAYS BLUE AFTER DEFROSTING AND ONLY GOES GREEN WHEN COOKED.

All my saved Ryders Blue seeds have gone mouldy!! So if anyone has any spare for this season (seed or seedlings).... i would be very happy to receive some...... We are still eating last season's batch - and they are the best bean EVER!!

you probably did not allow them to dry out properly jane the pods must be bone dry when you shuck them will have plenty of spare plants and seed if you want some when the time comes

This prompted me to check the beans I dried last year, the second generation from some plants that Wilbarra gave me three years ago. As you can see they've a) dried out really well and not developed any mould, and b) I've got rather a lot of them! Very happy to extend the same offer as Wilbarra, to share as many of these wonderful, beautiful and heavy cropping beans as you wish, with anyone on this forum, either as seed now or as plants in a couple of months.

Could I have a couple of seeds please? Trying to follow advice this year on what crops well and tastes good rather than our random selection of the first 2 years. Still very much loving the time spent on the plot

Still very much loving the time spent on the plot Hi Gill. Yes of course you may. If I don't get down to the site today I will do tomorrow and will put some in a thick wrapping and leave on your plot. You really won't regret growing these: so much flavour and such heavy croppers.
