At America Lane the skip was delivered on Friday, and the ground staff immediately loaded it with rubbish that had been cleared from the stream and the banks of the stream and subsequently left in a heap near to the gates on the left-hand side. That was very properly in response to a request from a councillor doing an inspection some 6 weeks ago, but it meant that the skip was 1/3 filled before most allotment holders had been advised it was there. Subsequently some rubbish that had been fly tipped through and over the fence was added, again with the approval of the Town Council, and by 10 am on Saturday the skip was very well loaded. I took the pictures below this morning and it is clear that the skip is now fully loaded if not overloaded, certainly nothing more can be added, although other plotholders would very much like to use it as originally advertised, as evidenced by the post on the America Lane board from a plotholder who I know has some mobility issues (http://hhplots.freeforums.net/post/80). Whilst thanking HH Town Council for providing the skip I hope they will accept that in view of the points made here many allotment holders sinply haven't had a chance to use the skip for the original purpose: to get rid of their own waste from their allotments and to keep their plots "maintained in .... good condition", as required in our Tenancy Agreements. Another skip, available from late Monday or Tuesday until the scheduled date would be very much welcomed and I'm sure other plotholders would agree.
