a christmas i will always remember was christmas 1945 it was christmas eve and the three german pow were sitting outside the village pub waiting to be taken back to the camp after a day working on the strawberry farm. one of them started to sing silent night. people coming off the train stopped to listen while people started to come out the pub. in a while quite an inpromptu carol service was going on. then one of the germans began to sing" o christmas tree"in german so beautiful did he sing it so wonderful the voice, every body else was silent. everybody stood still just listening no one moved. when he came to the end people just stood in silence. then Blink went up to him and took his hand and walked away. that gesture said it all.
