Dear allotment holder Please find attached the notes of the last Allotment Holders Meeting. Thanks Helen for providing the information requested under Minute 4, first action of that meeting "General administration of Council Managed sites. The question of the turnover of plots was asked by MC. Since the last meeting Helen Hewett (HH) said there have been 9 changes of plots, 5 at Oathall Avenue and 4 at America Lane. MC asked if he could know how long the plot holders had held their plots before giving them up. Action:- HH to find out the information and update the forum so that the figures were available to everyone." This information is now available as attached and shows that since the beginning of the year , including a reallocation of plots, 5 out of the 10 relinquished plots had only been held for 1 year or less. That confirms the view of those conducting Inspections that there is still an education process needed for new plotholders, since so many take on plots only to give them up or to be evicted. 20170605 Churn 2017 data.xlsx (12.79 KB)

Makes for an interesting read! Hopefully the welcome notes will address the issue of new plotholders not understanding the demands of a plot when they take one on.. if new to gardening - an allotment can quickly become a daunting task as it requires such regular work. Welcoming new plotholders and getting to know them definitely helps to make newbies feel at home from the start.
