Please note that a new lock has been ordered for America Lane Allotments and will be in place this afternoon. This may be a bit stiff at first, but please bear with it as it wears in. A spare lock is also being ordered. You will be happy to know that your existing keys will work in the new lock.
Further to Maria's last post, unfortunately, the new lock hasn't proved to be as successful as we had hoped and some of you are having problems getting into the allotments. The Town Council ordered another specially made lock to fit existing keys which was tested today and again, and frustratingly existing keys still don't work. We are going back to the locksmith to seek a solution, but it may be new keys need to be issued. In the meantime the old lock has been put back on as most people seem to be able to open this lock. An update will be posted on Monday when we have spoken to the locksmith, and apoolgies for the incovenience, but please be assured we are trying our best to sort this out.
I've joined Maria's original post and Helen's follow-up into the same thread, and here is the link to some of the issues reported by America Lane tenants with the lock and their keys hhplots.freeforums.net/post/902/thread
As you are all aware there has been an issue with the padlock on the gate. The new lock which was put on didn't work with some of your keys, so was swapped with an old lock that one of the allotment holders had, not sure how he came to have an old lock, but that is not the issue. This morning the new lock was put on gate with a note to say please test your key before it was swapped over, but I have since found out this note is no longer there and the new lock was found on the floor. I have now decided to put the new lock on the gate with a note let me know if you have any problems with using the lock, so I can get you a new key cut. Details of my email address and phone number are on the notice, so please contact me immediately with any problems.
