Hi there
I've only just moved to the area a couple of weeks ago from the north east. It's always been a dream of mine to grow my own vegetables and fruit and maybe some herbs for medicinal purposes. I have no idea where to start or know anything about growing for myself or how to get land/ an allotment as again I know little about the area.
Any advice would be amazing?
Best xx

Best xx Good morning hayley07 and welcome to Haywards Heath and to this Forum. You've come to the right place to find out and to get some advice and chat with friendly fellow gardeners. Haywards Heath Town Council runs two sites directly: America Lane and Oathall Avenue. Two others, Vale Road and Summerhill Lane are managed by private associations of plotholders. The Council runs a waiting list for their sites and it isn't very long at the moment. There is a regular turnover in plots and if you apply you need to be sure of what you are taking on in terms of the work needed to maintain it, but given that, there is a lot of opportunity! Both sites have a blend of very experienced, long-term tenants and younger people new to gardening and there is a very friendly atmosphere. If you'd like to know more contact the Town Hall in Boltro Road ( Email: allotments@haywardsheath.gov.uk,Telephone: 01444 455694 ) or if you'd just like to have a look at one of the allotment sites please send me a private message (PM) and I'll be happy to meet you. PS - I'm just going to move this thread into the Introduce Yourself board so that others using it will see your message and have the chance to say hello.
