surely the top allotment at the of the america lane site has got to be the top allotment on the site and well in contention as one of the best in the area. when one considers the mess that the plot was in when it was taken over to what it it now then even more praise is deserved. there is something about it, that one can see the love and care that has gone into it. when one looks over the fence to see it, it is like looking into someones back garden. a back garden of years gone by. most certainly it attracts the birds and there seems to be a peace about it that is unique to this allotment . take a look.

Entirely agree, it's quite imaginative and unique. When the 2019 Haywards Heath in Bloom allotments and gardens leaflet is circulated be sure to nominate this plot and bring credit to the gardener whose inspiration it is.
We are lucky here that we have not one standard perspective on what makes a good allotment, or even on what an allotment is for, but a range of views and different skills and ideas.
For example one of the senior America Lane tenants has devoted part of their own plot to a formal garden of memorial for the dead of two world wars, commemorating with plantings and crosses the losses suffered by so many families, including their own. Contributions have come in from many other plot holders on the site, both plants and help in laying paving stones to create a simple but moving garden of Memorial.
