Recently Southern Water rebuilt the conduit at the front of the site and put in new lateral railings. Unfortunately there is no fencing now to prevent anyone from wriggling through the bars and gaining access to the site. One plotholder has already reported damage to his plot and his shed has been entered and tools displaced, though fortunately nothing stolen.
I've written today on behalf of all plotholders to Steven Trice, the Town Clerk, asking him to look urgently into providing a secure fence for us and to advise on progress. In the interim can I suggest that all who can lock their sheds or greenhouses where tools are stored should do so, and to avoid keeping any obviously valuable equipment, such as rotovators, on their plots.
Please let me know if you have suffered aby vandalism or theft and I will coordinate with Steve Trice and Helen.

Update: I met with Shia, our Community Warden, at the site this afternoon and he is going to arrange for a temporary barrier to be in place by Monday at latest. This should deter opportunistic vandals while we wait for a permanent solution to be made.

Temporary barrier only until beaureaucracy over who owns the conduit and has responsibility can be resolved, but at least a deterrent. Thanks Shia.
