DAVID YOU ARE WRONG WHEN YOU SAY THAT THERE HAS NEVER BEEN SUCH A DEMAND FOR ALLOTMENTS AS THERE ARE NOW. THE DEMAND FOR ALLOTMENTS COMES AND GOES IN CYCLES. THE SIXTIES BROUGHT A HUGE DEMAND SO MUCH SO THAT COUNCILS WERE ASKING THERE COUNCIL TENAANTS TO GIVE UP PART OF THIER GARDEN FOR PEOPLE TO USE FOR VEGETABLE GROWING. OTHER PEOPLE LIVING IN PRIVATE HOUSES WERE LETTING OUT PIECES OF THIER GARDEN FOR QUITE LARGE SUMS OF MONEY. IT WAS PART OF SOME HEALTHY HEATING CRAZE AT THE TIME. RECIPES WERE APPEARING IN THE PAPER ONE I RECALL SHOWED HOW TO COOK ALL THE DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE DANDILION PLANT. THE NINTIES BROUGHT ANOTHER GREAT DEMAND FOR ALLOTMENTS WHEN THIS COUNCIL CUT DOWN THE SIZE OF MOST OF THE PLOTS ON THIS SITE. THIS AGAIN WAS HAPPENING UP AND DOWN THE COUNTRY. THE CRAZE DIED DOWN AND THE COUNCILS WERE LEFT WITH EMPTY PLOTS AGAIN THE MANURE IDEA IS A GOOD ONE I DID IT FOR SOME YEARS AND BEFORE ME A PERSON CALLED RAY HOLMAN DID THE SAME THING. IF ITS ANY INTEREST TO YOU THE LAST LOT I GOT WAS FROM OATALL SCHOOL FARM WHICH WAS FORTY POUND A LOAD. A LORRY LOAD OF MUSHROOM COMPOST WAS ONE HUNDRED POUNDS A LORRY LOAD. HOPE THAT IS OF SOME HELP GOOD LUCK

Hi John Not sure where you are coming from re Demand for Allotments?
I was very surprised when Helen offered me Ken's Old Plot, as we had only been on the waiting list for a little while! Talking to Helen recently, I know she now has a large waiting list at this time (Must be due to post Covid).
I still work with Al Gore as a Climate Reality Leader, and I remember visiting a commune, where all they could offer us was Nettle and Dandelion Tea The water was from a sinkhole that left a lot to be desired at that time - when we had finished working with them they had running Water and solar electricity to run lights on - I actually got to like drinking it by then (AN AQUIRED TASTE).
Thanks for the tip about Manure at Oathall School - I did contact them but they only have Cow Manure I am waiting on a call back from a Stud Farm - where they have Well Rotted Horse Manure and will Deliver. Just have to haggle down the price a it more for a bulk delivery (Not much take up from other members though)
Look after yourself
Regards David Plot 18
