Got another good days work in on the communal plot. the middle bed has now been with tulips round the base of the tree with forget-me-nots planted in the bed. The last corner bed was done today. It was filled with the plants Stuart gave us and in between we have planted little patches of daffodil bulbs. There was quite of bulbs left so Andrew is going to plant them along the front of the garden, some time during this week. So that will probably be that as far as the communal garden is concerned until the spring. P.S the sacks and the rhubarb are at the top of your plot Stuart. Many Thanks.`

just like to add my thanks to Andrew who has put such a lot of hard work into the project. We would not be so far forward if it had not been for his hard work.

Another few days of (mostly) bright Spring weather and the autumn plantings in the Garden are starting to come out and enhance the shape of the Garden. The next steps will be to move some mature fruit trees from the adjoining plot and replant in the Garden, and then to put in some fencing on the stream side. We hope to move the fruit trees in the next few weeks and we would like some volunteers to help with the digging and heavy lifting. It would only take a Saturday morning, say, for a small team of volunteers to do this and we would ask if anyone fit and healthy is prepared to give up this time. Please let us (Murray, John, Jane or Philip) know any dates when you might be available and we will get back to you with a confirmed date.

Hi Murray I could do Saturday PM most weeks with a bit of notice. I have football and cricket training up to 1.30 at the moment although cricket finishes in a couple of weeks and goes outside in the evening so then I am usually free from about 11am.

The Community Garden is looking very "springy" in this week's sunshine. It's really taking shape now - to help us along, please could we have some more volunteers to help move the fruit trees - a couple of hours one Saturday morning?

Many thanks to all of those who will be helping out over the next week. The Garden is already looking lovely thanks to the work put in last autumn and is going to be absolutely stunning, a place where children can play and get used to the natural environment and older people can relax and enjoy some peaceful beauty.

Thanks to all those who put in so much work and care into preparing and moving the fruit trees into the Community Garden. Yesterday was perhaps not the ideal day for heavy digging but the trees have been well watered-in and we can now hope that they will firm up in the soil and the roots will take quickly. Special thanks for all the diggers and grafters, step forward wilbarra gill14 slugwash Chris Plot 16 We now have four young fruit trees, apples and cherries, along each side going back from the path to the stream, and some bigger trees either side of the arbour. Once they are well-established in the new soil the plan is to espalier them against some fencing. The central area will be raked and seeded with grass, and when this happens we'll let everyone know not to come on to the Garden site until the seed has taken. Later in the summer, if all goes well, we plan to build a permanent barbecue site there.
