I know that several plotholders here get their annual trailer-load of muck from the farm in the autumn, and very good value it is at £40. The farm-shop has ceased trading and the people responsible for running the farm are hard to track down. After several attempts at getting confirmation from them that they will be doing so again this year, I've finally had an email that says, in part "We do have a very long waiting list at the moment but we will call you as soon as we are able to fulfil your order." I suppose that means we just have to wait for the animals to keep feeding and let nature take it's course.

Sounds like if you do get to the top of the list for a delivery it might be a tad fresh!
It would be good to hear where other plot holders source their manure from. I was going to a stables in Newick and it was well rotted and free but you had to collect and bag yourself. I've not been lately so not sure if they are still accepting collectors. I did keep a note of another stables offering free to collectors on freecycle. When I finally get a chance to try that out if it is any good I'll share the details.

Had my trailer-load delivered today and a heads-up for anyone else ordering from Oathall Farm: they've increased the price to £55. Quite a shock as I'd had several contacts with the farm and this had never been mentioned. I know they have kept their price stable for some time but it is a stiff increase without warning. Now I have my tasks set out from now till Christmas: shovel into barrow, barrow around plot, shovel and rake......and repeat.

What state is the manure in Murray? Does it look to be a decent age or a bit fresh still?
