my own view on using soapy water is that you just as well use an insecticide,considering what goes into the washing up liquids these days. i have used insecticides all my life and have survived i think the answer is to use the insecticides in as limited way as possible. dont forget the use of soapy water as an insecticide goes back to the days when it was pure soap that was used for washing and washing up. not the unknown cocktail that passes for washing up liquid today. but of course the real answer to healthy crops is to keep the soil in good shape, the ground weed free and the plants well fed, whether you garden organicly or not. long may both methods be used and long may both camps argue their own point of view

What about spraying with garlic water? Have you ever tried that? It is supposed to put the pest off.
